It is officially Nie Nie Day

For those of you that don't know what Nie Nie Day is all about let me explain. Here is the story of one our fellow creative souls/blogger moms as posted on The Stephanie Nielson recovery blog:

"On Saturday, August 16, 2008, Stephanie Nielson was in a plane crash with her husband, Christian Nielson, and his flight instructor, Doug Kinnear, near St. Johns, Arizona. Doug Kinnear passed away soon after arriving at the Maricopa County Hospital.
Christian & Stephanie remain in critical condition at Maricopa Burn Center. Christian has sustained burns on over 30% of his body. His wife Stephanie’s body was burned over 80%.
For the past four years, Stephanie has welcomed us into her charming abode through the NieNie Dialogues. Far from being a product of creative editing, the Nielson’s don’t just shine through the selective lens of a blog. They are ingenuous examples of family devotion, eternal romance, and Christ centered faith. This site is dedicated to their welfare & recovery"

Today has been designated as Nie Nie Day by fellow blogger Design Mom A ton of sites will be holding auctions starting today for all kinds of awesome items and the best part is that all of the money raised will go towards Stephanie and her husbands medical bills which are sure to be astronomical. So today, check out the auctions, bid high bid often!!! I've already started my bidding - don't miss out.

If the auction isn't your thing and you would like to donate to this cause directly you can access the paypal account set up for the family on our blog sidebar.

Crafting Party!

Last night might have been our best Miti ever! We had such a great group of gals making such fabulous shadow boxes. It even spilled over to the local Chili's afterwards!

Thank you to everyone who has attended one of our Miti's (we love it as much as you do) and to those of you who haven't tried our Make it/Take it you have another chance next month. On the first of every month we will post what that month's Miti will be and the class will be the last Tuesday of the month. We would love to have you join the fun!

Books-A-Million

We just got in a large shipment of the most awesome books. Wendy and I both personally have a cool book buying addiction and always think that books make the perfect gift! Just some of the titles that arrived are:The UPS man didn't like hauling all of the boxes in the store but I certainly felt like it was Christmastime opening them all up. We are fully stocked with books for kids, parents and grandparents so come in and browse around!! ~Jamie

All is well at POPIN!

Other than tons of rain we survived Fay pretty well, we opened back up Saturday and were so glad to see that all of you were as ready to get out of the house as we were... I managed to get a pic of one of our cutest visitors as his mommy was trying on one of our new market slings (once she saw his grin she couldn't resist getting the sling!!)

Our Lingering Tropical Storm...

Well...Fay just won't go away. We will be closed again today (the Mayor of Jacksonville pretty much told everyone to stay home for safety reasons) Schools are obviously closed again today. I just heard on the news that about 65,000 homes are without power now - we had a pretty hard hitting night but we do have power and everyone is safe so I just wanted to post an update for you guys. We've had tons of rain (my grass looks like a lake) and strong winds (trees are bending sideways) But, from the sounds of the forecast tomorrow, will be wet but I should be able to open up the store (so if you are dying to get out of the house, call us first just to check 886-3947, but I'd love to see you!!) ~Jamie

Forcast Fay

At the minute POPIN seems to be directly where Fay is going to hit, it is raining really hard right now and the wind is picking up (can change any minute though!!). As a precaution, Duval County schools are closed today and tomorrow. From the sounds of the forcasts the main brunt of the storm will hit early Thursday morning...we will be hunkering down and closing shop around 3pm today and most likely will be closed tomorrow. We hope everyone stays safe and makes it through the storm with little damage! We will post any updates here on the blog (provided we have power) ~Jamie & Wendy
