Corners of Our Home Wednesday

Today's tour is more of Jamie's home... These photos are from her family room which is done in warm tones of blues/greens/reds and golds. (you can click on any of the photos to see larger)

An eclectic mix of throw pillows on her sectional sofa....

Some fun accessories to keep it light on her sofa table....

A view of the mantel which holds an assortment of greenery and an antique window pane...

Probably the most asked about feature in Jamie's home, her fireplace surround. When Jamie moved into this house the mantel was "builder white" and the surround was made of ceramic tiles that clashed with the vibrant yellow walls. Jamie simple used embossed wallpaper to cover the tiles and painted the entire surface a medium brown. Then she used a crackle paint medium to apply a "cracked" black over the brown giving the look of an antique wood carved mantel piece... all for under $50 bucks!...

An overall shot of the fireplace...

Here is her entertainment center (one of the first pieces of furniture that Jamie and Brian purchased as a couple) It holds the couple's main TV, some sentimental family photos as well as some of Jamie's collection of funky bird houses...

A view of the sectional sofa that was custom made in a sea green/blue tweed fabric to bring out the colors in the area rug. Jamie was lucky enough to get the gold chenille ottoman when her parents moved and it is one of her favorite furniture pieces...

The home's floor plan is very open, so the kitchen opens into the family room. Here is a shot of the couple's eat-in kitchen. A mosaic table and iron chairs sit under a Lt. Moses Willard chandelier. Three very large candle sticks sit in the corner and are lit for romantic diners. The show stopper is the painting hung on the wall (over 6 ft tall) Knowing Jamie's love of "big" art, Brian purchase the "Serenity" painting for Jamie as a gift for their 5 year anniversary...
Venetian masks that the couple got in Italy while on their honeymoon hang above the back french doors...

A photo of the hallway leading to the family room, a highly distressed dresser holds all of their daily "stuff"...

Hope you enjoy!!

This is my favorite of all the mantel ideas yet. I am now looking for some sort of arch. object such as a pretty window or etc to go over my mantel. Thanks for the inspiration...

That fireplace is spectacular! It's so beautiful by itself but the way it's decorated makes it even better. Thanks for sharing those wonderful pictures!
