Corners of our home Wednesday

Welcome to Bella's Room (she was 18 months when she moved into this room...she is now 4).

A welcoming mermaid hanging on the door to her room.

Bratt Decor makes a beautiful scalloped twin bed! We decided to go ahead and get her furniture in lavender. It's different and really draws your eye to the furniture. The bedding is custom Mudge & Molly. The bed skirt is a layered lavender shimmering organza over a ruffled white skirt (kinda reminds me of a mermaid's tail).

My favorite item in her whole room is this custom pillow by Jamie Haylee. It was made in the likeness of Bella at the time.

The curtain panels and the paint were taken directly from the inspiration pictures found in a BH&G magazine (see yesterday's post). All of the sewing and painting Wendy did (with help from her Mom and husband). The 3D glitter sea creatures hang in the corner where Bella's toy box is for a touch of whimsy.

There was some extra paint left over from the wall so it went on this terra cotta pot to mimic the pattern on the walls.

Another project Wendy did to bring in small touches of hot pink. These were plain white frames purchased at a discount store. She covered the mat in scrapbook paper and painted the frames to match.

Some finishing touches of stacked fabric covered hat boxes and wooden letters to spell Mermaids (remember that the letters don't always have to spell out your child's name).

Corners of our Homes Wednesday

It's been so busy around the shop today that we've barely gotten time to post, but we know so many of you look forward to the Wednesday photos we figured it would be better to get some up than none at all! Here are some shots from Jamie's guest (or kids) bathroom....
(as always just click to see larger)
The walls are papered with a kitchy Florida Map wallpaper by Waverly
(unfortunately Jamie's color-way is discontinued)
Fun beach accessories add to the whimsical feel....

The space is so small it was hard to get good pics of the shower & chandelier...we'll try to add those later. Hope you guys enjoy!

Corners of Our Home Wednesday

Today's tour is more of Jamie's home... These photos are from her family room which is done in warm tones of blues/greens/reds and golds. (you can click on any of the photos to see larger)

An eclectic mix of throw pillows on her sectional sofa....

Some fun accessories to keep it light on her sofa table....

A view of the mantel which holds an assortment of greenery and an antique window pane...

Probably the most asked about feature in Jamie's home, her fireplace surround. When Jamie moved into this house the mantel was "builder white" and the surround was made of ceramic tiles that clashed with the vibrant yellow walls. Jamie simple used embossed wallpaper to cover the tiles and painted the entire surface a medium brown. Then she used a crackle paint medium to apply a "cracked" black over the brown giving the look of an antique wood carved mantel piece... all for under $50 bucks!...

An overall shot of the fireplace...

Here is her entertainment center (one of the first pieces of furniture that Jamie and Brian purchased as a couple) It holds the couple's main TV, some sentimental family photos as well as some of Jamie's collection of funky bird houses...

A view of the sectional sofa that was custom made in a sea green/blue tweed fabric to bring out the colors in the area rug. Jamie was lucky enough to get the gold chenille ottoman when her parents moved and it is one of her favorite furniture pieces...

The home's floor plan is very open, so the kitchen opens into the family room. Here is a shot of the couple's eat-in kitchen. A mosaic table and iron chairs sit under a Lt. Moses Willard chandelier. Three very large candle sticks sit in the corner and are lit for romantic diners. The show stopper is the painting hung on the wall (over 6 ft tall) Knowing Jamie's love of "big" art, Brian purchase the "Serenity" painting for Jamie as a gift for their 5 year anniversary...
Venetian masks that the couple got in Italy while on their honeymoon hang above the back french doors...

A photo of the hallway leading to the family room, a highly distressed dresser holds all of their daily "stuff"...

Hope you enjoy!!

Corners of our Home Wednesday

Today's photos are from the adopted child-to-be's room at Jamie's house. While going through the Foster/Adoption process Brian & Jamie were told that they needed to have a room ready for the age/gender of child that they are looking to adopt (Girl, age 0-4). Well, that was all Jamie need to hear to get her design juices flowing. With the chances of them getting a newborn being pretty slim she decided to start with a twin bed setup and add a crib later if needed. The inspiration for this colorful room started with a simple fabric sample from our friend Jennifer Paganelli's Girlfriends line called "Nicole". (see the Nicole fabric as the king sham on the bed) A large green Houndstooth fabric was made into a twin hugger and a ruffled bedskirt was custom made from Michael Miller fabric. The wall colors were next, this is one of Jamie's favorite color combinations (red and pink) and horizontal stripes seemed a funky choice to combine the two. POPIN's decorative painter Tricia tackled the stripes and they turned out great! (just click on photos to see larger...)
Wall cards by Eeboo and a myhaven chest...
A reading corner has a Little Castle Glider in an unexpected yellow plaid, a shelf with collector dolls that Jamie bought at Henri Bendel and some Oopsy Daisy art...
A close up of the Nicole fabric made into cute pinch pleat curtains by Jamie's mom...
no little girl's room is complete without a chandelier...
A custom made frame with the quote: "Delight in the Beauty that surrounds you... Dwell in possibility"

The room is still a work in progress, as is the LONG crazy adoption process....but for now at least someone is getting good use out of it.....
Hope you enjoy!!

Corners Of Our Home Wednesday

Here are some photos of Jamie's Master bedroom. Her style is very eclectic, sort of vintage-modern. She always embraces color (of course) with black thrown in to ground the space. The walls are painted a bright cream color (Queen Anne's Lace - Lowes) to be a neutral backdrop for her unique accessories....

A cozy sitting area makes the large room feel a lot more intimate, perfect for enjoying morning coffee together!...
Jamie's side table holds a sentimental wedding picture, a funky harlequin lamp, a wish journal that Jamie made at Silver Bella and some cute blooms...
On Brian's side table you can see the silhouettes that Jamie had made during a trip to Paris (Brian's lamp has his silhouette and Jamie's lamp has hers) A embellished wire dress form adds height to a bare corner...
Little fun vignettes are set up all over the room with items that are special to the couple, here is a stuffed squirrel which reminds them of their favorite thing to do while in Boston... feeding the squirrels in Boston Common....
An unexpected addition to a master bedroom are these hanging mobiles made by the super talented Alicia Paulson....
A collection of Tracy Porter bedding and Anthropologie pillows are what tie all of the colors together...
A vintage find at a local antique store, this hanging shelf holds Jamie's every changing collections...
One of her collections is French postcards, these were found at the Saint-Ouen flea market in Paris...

Hope you enjoy!
