Happy Halloween

I hope everyone has a super fun and safe Halloween tonight! I know I'll be escorting my adorable niece & nephew & dog around my neighborhood gathering up as many goodies as we can. Bella will be dressed as a be-bop girl (complete with poodle skirt!) and Preston will be a very convincing Darth Vader - Radar, in case you were wondering, will be accompanying Preston as Yoda (the pic above is from last year...he decided to go as a witch). If you swing by POPIN today you'll get to see me dressed in my costume (I couldn't resist) I'm not gonna spoil the surprise.... you'll have to stop in and see me....
Oh, and what's left of our Halloween/thanksgiving outfits are 30% off today!! ~J

Crafty Goodness!

Here's a peek at our August MITI (make-it-take-it) class. Let me just say, these classes are so much fun! Last night we all added our own special twist on Wendy's famous photo tins. It was so neat to see everyone create their designs and add their own unique touches to these family keepsakes. We will post the details for our September MITI soon...stay tuned....our regulars had a few special requests so we are gonna try to accommodate with a really special project next month. As for now... enjoy the pics... and to quote our favorite saying: Do Something Creative Everyday!! ~J

I totally agree with this.....

You Belong in Rome

You're a big city soul with a small town heart
Which is why you're attracted to the romance of Rome
Strolling down picture perfect streets, cappuccino in hand
And gorgeous Italian people - could life get any better?

Brian & I went to Rome on our Honeymoon and had an awesome time ~ check out the quiz to see where you belong! ~J

Big and Little

If you haven't stopped in lately you will be surprised at all of the changes and the huge increase in clothing POPIN has started carrying. We have gone a little crazy in this department but we just can't help ourselves! Today we received a shipment of the cutest tees, my personal favorite being this:
We also received the best big bro/big sis and little bro/little sis shirts:
Not sure if you can see it, but on the big brother shirt it says: "honor & defend", on the little brother shirt it says: "search & destroy". On the big sis shirt it says: "cherish & protect" and on the little sis shirt is says: "spoil & love."

Also, we have had so many requests for it, so...we are going to start carrying Zutano in October! I know that my daughter lived in Zutano clothes her first 2 years! They are by far the most comfortable and well made clothes around.

We also received the best new baby albums in on Friday. They will bring you to tears every time you read them. They also came in adoption which lately has been requested frequently. It comes with pages to fill out about the "forever family" and the "birth family." What an amazing gift to give your child when they are older!

Check back often for new stuff!

We have been getting in new merchandise everyday. Please excuse the boxes if you happen to come in when we get a delivery, but it has been a lot like Christmas around here! I put some of the new stuff on the website, under New Items. The item I am most excited about are the new golf socks! Since everyone in my family is a golfer, these were a must have for us!
Also, spots are filling up quick for the August MITI, make sure you send me an email or give us a call if you would like to attend!

R-E-L-A-X-E-D

Hi guys,
I'm back from my mini-vacation and much needed break (although I think I came into POPIN 3 of my 5 vacation days...I couldn't help it!!) I thought I'd share some photos of a few of the activities Brian & I managed to do during the 110 degree heat that week. We started off by going out to my parents to swim, walk the boardwalk to the intercoastal and pig out (like we always do when my family is together) We also took up golf as a new couples sport (God help us!), we went on a day trip to Fernandina for some antique shopping, we went and saw a few movies, tried bowling one night (after drinking a few too many at the bowling alley bar...yikes!) It was awesome to spend a week alone with Brian, we needed it, but by the end of the time off both of us were jonesing to get back to our respective jobs!
Wendy took this week off from the store to "do nothing" as well, I think I've talked to her on the phone from POPIN a minimum of 2 hours a day though so just like me she never stops thinking about the store. We are getting ready to do a HUGE floor move (we try to do these quarterly, painting walls, making new displays, keeping things fresh) My last few days of vacation were spent at market and boy did we place a TON of orders... keep your eye out on the website... as new stuff comes in (and it already has started) we'll get it all online for you guys buying pleasure. I should be a tiring next few weeks... but this the the stuff we live for!!! Enjoy the pics, more to come next week.... ~J

(click on the pictures for more details) Stop on in or check it out on our website.

Office infatuation

Any of those who know us well, know that we have a passion for the show The Office. In fact, if you stop by the store on Friday, you will probably hear us discussing the episode that was on the night before. Not to mention, our Office screen saver and work calender. Jamie and I have so many memories of working in that exact setting, we've known some of those exact characters! Personally, I am having withdrawals because the show isn't back on the air for a few more weeks...so in the mean time, all of you Office fans out there...enjoy this! (you definitely need sound to watch this)

Ebay keeps the sadness away!

Hi Guys,
Just checking in with you, I know my last post was kind of blue... and yes, it has been a hard few weeks but I think I am back to a happy place thanks to all of your super kind support, my awesome family, and some great retail therapy!!! I know life will go on and that God has a plan for me and Brian and it might not happen just the way we think but that is OK, we are just going to go with the flow. I thought I would share a picture of the cutest totes that I just received from an Ebay purchase.... the ruffles and absolute mismatch of fabrics is just what I needed! They are super good quality, not like a lot of purchases that I have made on Ebay where, yes, I have often gotten Escrewd. I am looking forward to using these totes next week when Bri and I are taking an entire week off to do nothing! Yep, that's right, we have no plans to fly or drive anywhere, we aren't planning on spending a boatload of money, we are just gonna hang around - go to the beach a few days, do some antique shopping, picnic, check out some local bike trails and probably catch up on some of the summer blockbusters at the movies. I can't wait! Work has been really stressful for him these past few weeks and of course I've been a mess so it will be nice just to reconnect and be us for a while (without having to worry about giving/receiving fertility shots and drugs) Wendy will be at the shop all by herself this week, not even Preston to keep her company (he went back with his Nana and Granddad to SC for a week of golf/swimming/boating) I'm sure he won't miss being at POPIN much! So you guys stop in and say Hi to her when you get a chance, we always keep our air conditioning really cool in the store so when you are about to pass out in this heat pop-in! We are having some really big sales right now, and Wendy is our wheeler/dealer this week- so come in if there is something you have had your eye on and prepare to walk out with an awesome deal!! I'll post pics of my mini-vacation when I return, until then.....stay cool! ~J

Negative

I just got the call with the results from my pregnancy test after my IVF transfer and it was negative. Just thought I'd keep everyone updated. I don't really understand right now but I guess that's just par for the course with my "unexplained infertility". I'm not sure what we will do next but I'll keep you posted, thanks for all of the well wishes and prayers. ~J

Happy Father's Day

I hope all of the Dad's out there enjoyed their weekend. I was lucky enough to get to keep my awesome niece and nephew this weekend and we decided to bake cupcakes for Dad as a father's day treat. Bella was in charge of sprinkles and most of them actually got on the cupcakes, I was pretty impressed!
Radar's Dad (aka Brian) cooked us an awesome dinner this weekend and I couldn't help getting a shot of him in action, we're so lucky to have Dad's around!!! ~J

Spring has Sprung at the Walker house

Just thought I would wish a everyone a Happy Thursday and share some pics that I took of my backyard this past week. Everything is filling in so pretty, we finally got our fountain out back working and so far we've rushed to eat all of our meals outside listening to the sound of the water flowing. As you can see Radar particualary likes the soft grass and sunshine - we call him Sun Dog for a very good reason....

Since this is such a happy post, I'll update you guys on my IVF saga.... This coming Monday is when I will be doing my first transfer (got admitted into the hospital last time instead of it happening...) So wish us luck, I'll be taking it very easy for a couple of days, Wendy is gonna have to man the shop. I'll keep you all posted as soon as I know any news! ~Jamie

Tutu Cute!

Sorry it's been such a long time since we posted anything, that's just wrong!! Well, I'm writing to show you guys the most fabulous items that we just got in at the store:

These are the cutest tutus you will ever see!! A must have for any girly girl!! We also now have a pretty adorable clothing department setup in the store - due to much demand by our fashionable customers (and their moms..)

We are carrying newborn-4T, a ton of cute girl stuff but we didn't forget the little men either - we just put out a new shipment of rockin' onesies and T-shirts for those hip boys in your life.

We have the girl clothing and tutus listed on our website now as well, along with a peek at our new hairbow collection, just click on the pictures to take you there.

Stay tuned to this blog for upcoming events in the store, including our June MITI (Make-it Take-it, for those not in the know) we are working on getting our prototype ready and posted for everyone to see, should be in the next few days....

I'm back in action and I've been tagged!

Hello everyone, I just wanted to give a little update on my health situation and let all of you know that your thoughts and prayers are soooo appreciated. Many of you know from talking to Wendy that I was in the hospital for a week due to complication with my IVF process, basically my whole body was shutting down and I gave everyone (including the doctors) a real scare. Luckily I had the best Dr. to get me better as soon as possible. I am better now but will have to wait until mid June to do my transfer - I'll keep you guys posted how it goes but I just wanted to say thanks for being concerned. On a lighter note, my sister tagged me on her blog so now I am supposed to list out 7 random facts/habits about myself and the following rules: The rules are, People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!
just 7?.... 1. I am about 4 inches taller than my husband, I wear 3 sizes bigger shoe (and I weigh about 30 pounds more than him) 2. I hate to talk on the phone to anyone except to my sister, I've always been an introvert and am just not a phone talker. (my Dad always says that he thought I was mute until I turned 12) 3. I wear my watch on my right hand even though I'm right-handed, this drives a lot of people nuts! 4. I could/would eat Ketchup or A-1 steak sauce on everything, my favorite snack is A-1 on a saltine with a dill pickle chip on top. 5. No matter how much weight I lose I always have a double chin, it just runs in my family - we get a good laugh about it at every holiday. 6. I break out in horrible red splotches all over whenever I get flustered or nervous (really inconvenient when dealing with irate customers) 7. I am a very non-competitive person, my husband and I always joke that in the old "fight or flight" question, I would fly every time.

Back to Business

Jamie is doing much better, and is actually back to work- that is dedication!! Our hours are back to the normal 10-6 M-F and 10-4 on Saturday. Thank you for all of your calls and emails wishing her a speedy recovery, I think it did the trick. For those of you following her IVF process, she will try again in June once her body has had time to fully recover from all of the trauma.
Yesterday, we went to market, where we purchase merchandise for the store. We found quite a few new items and are really excited about getting them in. Here are a few pictures of new stuff we picked up (see the last picture, I mean "picked up" literally!!)
These are drawer knobs...sooo cute!
Finally got to test drive the new double stroller from Easy Walker, it will arrive in our store next week, along with the new Sky single (adjustable handle bar...yeah!!!).
Our most unique purchase...retro sofas for kids fashioned off the classics: mustang, corvette and camaro back seats.
Because we went on the last day of market, some of the vendors actually let you take home some of their merchandise. I fell in love with these sofas and had to get one for my son. So this is a picture of me trying to carry this 100 lb box with a sofa in it at least a mile through the showroom and out to the parking lot. Needless to say, today...I can't lift my arms!
